Christmas time

Ahhh, that time of year again. The hustle and bustle of people. Trying to get their Christmas shopping done. List in their hands, frowns on their faces. Where is the Spirit of Christmas? Do we know why we celebrate the season? Or are we so lost in all the gift buying, Christmas get togethers? The most important of all...........The Birth of Our Lord. Yes, sing Happy Birthday on Christmas Day. Bake a cake, do something special to celebrate the reason for the season. Start a new tradition with Jesus first on that wonderful day.
I don't know about all of you. But, I nag and I mean I nag to my family about WHY we are celebrating the season. It's not the expense of the gift under the tree or what outfit I'm I going to wear to the Christmas party. It's wonderful birth of JESUS. Yes, Jesus, born on Christmas day..December 25th. Jesus who came to earth to only die for our sins. Lets rejoice and remember Jesus is the reason for the season......
Read Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOODNIGHT...

Great Grandparents

A ( Great )Grandmother's Prayer
Author: Barbara Burrows

changed to great grandparent: roxie

Oh Lord, I do not ask for much,

Eternal beauty, or youth, or such.

Just give me a little hand to hold,

And I'll forget that I'm growing old.

I do not ask for cloudless skies,

A life that's free from tears and sighs.

Just give me a little face to kiss,

And anxious moments will turn to bliss.

For what is there, really, that means so much

As little hands that reach and touch,

As little eyes that search and see

Only the best in fragile me?

So let me grow more loving and wise

By looking at life through their wide eyes.

For through these little ones, you have given

These grateful great grandparents a glimpse of Heaven.

Strawberries are forever

Here's my granddaughter helping her Nana make her favorite desert Strawberry Shortcake.

MMM MMM Good. Made with homemade whip cream. Which you can see she enjoyed making herself. Mani reminds me of myself. How in my younger days loved to bake. LOL, as I remember my dad eating cookies, that I KNOW where either not done or burned and saying "Not Bad".. Thanks Dad.

There's so much joy and passion watching young kids learn how to cook when we as adults are like ahh geez gotta cook again..We tire out from the same old thing. But, it's not old to the younger kids, they are ecstatic about learning.

God is cool and I think HE loves to send little things my way............just like a promise of rainbow after each rain. Yea, He is Good.

Family

The hardiest things in life sometimes are having some of your family so far away. The saying "as you get older your views in life change" is true. My sister who is 1 years older than me has been away from home for at least 20+ years. The times we do get together (which isn't very often) is joyful, fun and just plain fantastic. But, when she goes back home it leaves a emptiness in my heart..
Over Memorial weekend she was here and brought her new grandson. (5 months old) What a joy to see them both and the poor feller I think was showered with kisses and hugs from all her sisters. The joy on my parents face to be able to see him, priceless. Miss and love you Dear Sister......

Their Engaged

How cool is that? My son and fiance are planning a Feb. 14, 2009 wedding. This will be the first of my children. I'm so excited to have a daughter-in-law. I couldn't ask for a better gal..
I will post their web site for those who would like to take a look and see what they have planned. Or should I say,(knowing my son) what she has planned. So come take a look and sign their guest book and say a Great Big Congratulations to the love birds....
Let me tell you about Megan. She is a special gal to us. Chris (my son) has a boy. Caleb who is 4 years old and let me tell you he's a character. Megan has given Caleb such loving care. I always say it takes someone special to take on other parents children and give them their love and affection. That is what Megan has done for Caleb. Caleb knows he is loved by her. And that right there sold me on her..So thank you Megan for welcoming my grandson and giving my son happiness that he has long for...

Oh Where O' Where has Our Spring Gone

Yup, uh huh...It's baaack the white stuff..almost 6 inches of it. It's melting fast within two days it should be gone temps stay in the 40's..But, just to see it again, made me tear up. Those people in the South way South. Appreciate your spring. We just don't see it here anymore. I remember as a little girl dressing in my New Spring Dress. It was even sleeveless, sometimes wearing a light sweater. But, now days.Nope it just don't happen. We go from heavy winter jackets to being hot. Just don't seem like spring wants to come to this area anymore. Well, I must go and see what trouble I can get into, maybe cleaning off some snow banks..grin...

Spring is in the Air

Well, I have always been told the first sign of spring is a robin..Well amazingly I seen one yesterday. Yes, the robin was by himself looking for food. Oh, the joy that little bird brought me for a moment. That's when I knew that spring isn't to far away..Hurray, hurray for us here in the cold state. Our summers are so short as it is. Believe me it's been one long winter here. So soon I'm hoping his little feathered friends will be joining him soon. Lets go Rockin Robin.....

Ahhh, Easter..Too know Jesus has Risen brings great joy. I do remind my children and grandchildren why we celebrate Easter. Besides the bunnies, candy and eggs. Praise the Lord for his Greatness.

We enjoyed our day. Fine meal of ham, potato's, fruit salad, creamed corn and of course last but not least the delicious deserts. I say deserts 'cause there where two. Why settle for one. Bunny cake and a fantastic peanut butter pie that was to die for.

How do you celebrate St. Patricks Day?

1) eating corned beef and cabbage

2) wearing green so you don't get pinched

3) Talk Irish

Well, I like to wear green, since I don't like to be pinched. But, I do like corned beef and cabbage. Irish talk I cannot do since I'm full blooded German.

Did you know that Irelands is 8,000 years old with 5 million people? Ha, just read that. That is one place my son Tate and I would love to go visit. To go to a Pub, listen to the wonderful use of language. Most people don't know this about me but I love Irish music and dancing. To meet the warm friendly Irishmen and ladies of course. Just to see the landscaping would be breathe taking, i'm sure. Maybe some day *sigh*. And if I do go maybe I would see a leprechaun or a fairy.....

Here's a recipe I will share with you try it on St. Patricks Day your family and friends will love it...

Let me introduce you to Aleesia. Ahhh, that baby smell. Big brown eye's.(if they stay that color) They do say brown is a dominant color. My heart just leaps out when she hears my voice and has a fabulous smile for me. Joy, Joy..
There are countless Blessings in being a grandparent. Would you like to hear the joys and blessings of being a grandparent? Don't even get my started....

Hans Margolius said, "One man all by himself is nothing. Two people who belong together make a world."

Isn't that the truth? February the month of LOVE. Now
as we get older romance is so much more mature. Is it because we can apreciate we are still around? Nope we just see it in big people's eyes.
I'm not sure what we have planned for the romantic day. But, I do know it's my excuse to eating chocolate. Not that I need one. OK so I do..So tell me, How will you spend Valentine's Day? I hope it's with that special someone.
